Visiting the Moremi Game Reserve is the ultimate way to experience the fantastic wildlife of the Okavango Delta. So pack your binoculars, camera, swimsuit and smile and take the safari adventure of a lifetime to this unique and very special place on earth!
The Moremi Game Reserve is a conservation area that protects approximately 3000 square kilometres of the Okavango Delta, and is therefore a prime location for safari enthusiasts. It has a truly diverse landscape of spacious grasslands, deep forests, wetlands and large floodplains, and these areas attract vast numbers of wild animals. The reserve also includes the Mopane Tongue, a large dry peninsula that juts into the Delta.
Many say that this reserve is the finest place to view elephant, buffalo, different types of antelope, a beautiful variety of birdlife and even large numbers of the highly endangered wild dog. Since the Delta encompasses plenty of water, crocodiles are regularly seen on the riverbanks and hippos wallowing in deeper waters are not an uncommon sight. The water is one of the reserve’s greatest assets, as tens of thousands of animals come here in search of refreshment when the rest of Botswana is in its dry season. Floodwaters from further locations ensure that the water is high during the months of June to September.

Moremi Game Reserve – Designed to Suit You!
Although Moremi Game Reserve is a year-round safari destination, it is important to choose the correct time for visiting and the lodge that will best suit your needs. At certain times of the year some of the lodges may even be closed due to higher rainfall that causes inaccessibility, and some lodges may not offer certain activities due to their location. For example, if you are interested in taking a trip up the river by mokoro (a dug-out canoe), then you will need a lodge that is nearby suitable waters. If you have not yet been to Botswana or the Moremi Game Reserve in particular, you may find it useful to have assistance with the above-mentioned factors when planning your safari. East Cape Tours has many years of experience with safari trips to various African countries, including Botswana, and we have personally been to many that are recommended. You are welcome to contact us for a no obligation quote and a chat to see how we can provide assistance.
At Chief’s Island there are several fabulous safari camps that offer a variety of options for viewing wildlife, and this area is often said to be the finest area of reserve. However, there are also lovely places of accommodation on the edge of the Mopane Tongue. The lodges all offer impeccable service, but are slightly different to one another. Some have a slower, more romantic, private and intimate atmosphere, while others are fun for social gatherings with other groups of travellers. Some of the lodges offer extreme luxury, while others are comfortable camps that enhance the feeling of being on a true safari. With such a lovely choice of accommodation we are sure that we can find you the ideal place to stay whilst exploring the Moremi Game Reserve.
