Overview and Accommodation

Sandibe Okavango Safari Lodge, Okavango Delta

Inspired by one of the Okavango Delta’s most secretive inhabitants, the guest areas of Sandibe Okavango Safari Lodge rise out of the trees clad in a wooden skin of shingles and timber that mirrors the pangolin’s body armour of overlapping scales. Organic and handmade, the lodge blends perfectly with its surroundings, becoming one with the Delta itself.

Simple and organic, low-key décor complements the natural lines of the exteriors. A casual crocodile-embossed leather sofa for two and a naturally beautiful side table made from a tree trunk create an aura of casual comfort. The giant king-sized bed looks out on spectacular Delta views from underneath a dazzling white mosquito net. The sounds of Africa lull and soothe when you come awake in the morning, as elephants splash in the water, baboons chatter and birds call in the trees. Outdoor showers cater for those who simply cannot tear themselves away from the views, while discrete butler hatches add an aura of intimacy.

Sparkling private plunge pools mirror the cool waters of the Delta channels, while two large day beds invite guests to daydream away the afternoon gazing at a tranquil vista of water and sky. Presided over by twinkling, starry skies and set to the chorus of an orchestra of frogs, private meals are served on the large, elevated deck. Back inside, a wood-burning fireplace creates the ideal spot for cosy winter nights filled with reflection on adventures to be lived.

Game Drives

Sandibe Okavango Safari Lodge boasts some of the best game viewing in the Delta and guests set off in search of wildlife in the early morning and late afternoon. Situated on the edge of the Delta, the game viewing areas at Sandibe remain accessible throughout the year, irrespective of rising water levels. Game viewing here is remote and secluded, with very few vehicles sharing the private concession. Sensitive off-road driving practices allow our guests to get up close to the area’s exceptional wildlife. Afternoon drives continue after night, allowing for an opportunity to see the many animals that are more active at night, including leopard and serval. Lion frequently hunt at night and there is always a chance of coming upon them feeding on a kill.

Helicopter Safari

Thrill to an aerial view of the Okavango Delta as you soar above a vast maze of both permanent and fleeting waterways and floodplains that occupy an otherwise sandy corner of Botswana in a helicopter. Fly over rivers and pools dotted with lily pads, as well as a variety of wild animals that inhabit this unique habitat.

Sandibe Okavango Safari Lodge Reviews

“This lodge is really beautiful , service is excellent and the food pretty good..we enjoyed the couple of nights we spent here although the game viewing was not as good as in other places we visited..having AC and massage, was wonderful as we ended our 13 days of safari” – emjaytx

“We planned a romantic weekend in Sandibe camp for Valentines. We made the right choice. The architecture of the lodge is unlike any of the others I’ve been to (8 in northern Botswana). The lighting in the main area as well as in the rooms for beautiful.” – marcus_hancock

“Family of eight had a great time here. Bumpy sand road all around by a lot of fun. Great for all the big five and surprisingly saw quite a few leopards. Ranger was great. Drinks at sundown in the remote Delta are something one must do. Accommodation is relatively new and the architecture is stunning.” – Lynton R
