One of a kind experience with Grasslands Bushman Lodge.
Grasslands Bushman Lodge is unique in several ways – the predator conservation project, the window into the San culture, the window into the settler culture, the range of activities.
Grasslands Bushman Lodge accommodates up to 16 guests and includes two family rooms. The lodge is traditionally decorated and has a swimming pool for the hot desert days. The guest areas overlook a floodlit waterhole which attracts a large variety of wildlife during the day and night. Accommodation is in comfortable, en-suite thatched chalets.

At Grasslands Bushman Lodge, you will be amazed by the comfortable chalets, dining facilities, and hospitable staff. Lounge time centers around a fire pit with a view of an extremely active, flood-lit waterhole where desert game comes to show itself. Another unique aspect of our camp is our large swimming pool where guests can enjoy taking a soothing swim after a long day of game drives and cultural walks in the Kalahari.
Lodging consists of eight comfortable and well furnished chalets, each with their own en-suite bathrooms, beds, closets, safe and dressing table. Each chalet is concrete with thatched roofs, these are very practical for the Kalahari Desert where it tends to be hot in the day but cold at night.
- Day and afternoon drives with guide and tracker.
- Predator interaction including walking with semi-habituated Cape Hunting Dogs (African wild dogs).
- Swimming pool.
- Sandgrouse experience.
- Horse riding.
Our meals are extraordinary, well prepared, and a far cry above most other safari outfits. We provide three meals a day, snacks, midday tea and dessert, cold drinks, wine, and a fully stocked bar for evening nightcaps.
Grasslands Bushman Lodge Reviews
“We were at the Grassland Lodge in October 2015 and it was absolute wonderful. The chalets in the lodge are clean and very pretty. A water hole with Zebras, Oryx and many other animals and a delicious dinner makes the stay more than perfect. We made a “bushman walk” and it was interesting and informative. When we are in this region sometime, we will return!” – lydia_lampe
“Grasslands Lodge is a a very real taste of the Kalahari. It can be difficult to see wild dogs in Africa. Here you can walk with them which we really enjoyed. The hospitality is amazing! Eluan and his staff are fantastic. We were surprised by a nice amount of Wildebeest meat given to us as a gift for our last night at camp cooking over open fire. Unforgettable. Being able to share time with the Bushman was something very special. They were so kind and knowledgable about everything around them. Going on walks, gathering and eat with them in the bush, watch their dancing and traditional games was something truly special.” – toddulmer
“Excellent place to visit for 2-3 nights. See their rescued lions and wild dogs and hear the lions roaring during the night. Only night I was there, we saw a mother cheetah with her three (of four) cubs at the watering hole, followed by two brothers. Many others came and I learned to know the sound of the wildebeest rushing into the water. Lovely staff, rooms and food. Excellent place to learn more about the human animal conflict, the complexity and some of the answers as well. I will return with guests.” – GenSafaris
